Greenhouse gas emissions from Baltic coastal lakes

چکیده

Coastal lakes (CL) act as limnetic–?-oligohaline systems located on non-tidal coastlines in fresh and salt water mixing zone. Owing to considerable terrestrial nutrient input a high autochthonous productivity CLs release greenhouse gases (GHG) the ambient atmosphere, however, neither emission from system was assessed nor controls were recognized so far. In this study we attempted quantify diffusive emissions of CH4, CO2 N2O based data collected seven south coast Baltic Sea Poland. Lake samples with quarterly resolution along salinity, depth wind fetch gradients. From our it emerged that concentrations GHGs determined by temperature. CH4 showed dependence lake fetch. controlled dissolved O2 NO3? largely related It also appeared influenced input. Greenhouse gas emissions from rice

Rice provides the staple food for over 60% of the world’s population. Globally 80% of rice is grown by small farmers in low income and developing nations, and in India rice farming is a key source of employment for the 60% of Indian workers still dependent on agriculture for work. Yet rice production is also an important source of greenhouse gas emissions, for example responsible for between 3 ...

Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Wastewater Treatment System

Besides its great potential in controlling water pollution from different sources, waste water treatment system generates significant amount of greenhouse gases. Hence, reducing the emission of greenhouse gases from the wastewater treatment plants is the major concern. The correct understanding and estimation of the greenhouse gases emitted from different points of the plan is essential to tack...
